Non-Clogging Ink Jet Printer? Does one exist?
Hi all,
I need an inkjet printer to print photos, but only occasionally. My last *3* Canon Prixmas (several different models) clogged up after about 2 years of minimal use.
Can someone suggest a printer that is resistant to clogging?
Something with cheap ink is preferable!

How much exactly is minimal use? You should be using it weekly or at least a few times a month so that the ink doesn't dry up. Also, how are the ambient room conditions like?

just buy the printers with the printheads with the ink cartridges.
when you change them the clogged heads goes away.

Room conditions are normal, 45 - 50% humidity, 20 - 23 degrees.
I have a colour laser which I use for my daily printing. Inkjet can go unused for 2 - 3 months at a time. Basically I need a photo printer to print off snapshots whenever I feel like it.

Yeah, I guess that is my best choice - are there any with individual ink tanks + print heads?

Before you throw away your printer, ever try using the "clean heads" feature that is likely in your print driver? When I was stupid enough to purchase Epson printers, I used to have to clean the heads if I hadn't used the printer in a few days. Surprisingly, it worked exceptionally well ... without cleaning, I would get basically nothing coming out ... after cleaning, it was "like new" (which isn't saying much, TBH).
Maybe you can find a way to schedule an auto-head cleaning once a day or something so it'll automatically do it and you'll have a ready printer whenever you want to use it? I dunno, just a suggestion since it seems like your only problem with the printer is the ink-drying issue.

Yeah, I tried clean, deep clean, even washing the head under water.
I did find instructions on how to open up the head to clean it, but unfortunately the screws were too tight and I ended up stripping the screws.
The printers usually work good for ~2 years, then I guess too much ink builds up and clogs the head.
I'm thinking maybe of getting a printer compatible with the HP60 cartridge which has a built in print head. Anyone here have the HP D110A? How's the photo quality?
