I worked for NPG years ago and the company is a huge ripoff. The meats are vacpac from the store and they buy the other products from price club with a huge markup. changing their name to 1 800 easy groceries wont help. Its still extremely over priced and your crazy to try it.

2012 Northern Provincial Grocers Happy New Years/Same Great Service and Products
Happy New Years to all of our 1800 Customer Families,
We at Northern Provincial Grocers are very happy to say that we have enjoyed a great 2011 without any unresolved customer concerns. As you all know Customer Service is our number one priority. We strive to ensure that all of our top quality meat products and name brand grocery products are delivered on time by our own well trained delivery staff. Grocery Prices in the retail stores continue to rise however all of our existing customers will enjoy a two year commitment on price. Since February 2011 when I first posted the above mentioned quote, I have not received any complaints that were relative to our products and services. Although Red Flags is a site which provides very good information in some areas of business, I have yet to see any individual identify who they are as they prefer to be anonymous on this site. I would suggest in a competitive market such as food we have many other companies with a poor track record of success and this is the reason for many of the fictitious blogs on this site.
Our company has been approached by many web companies to remove the Red Flags site by adding false data to push this off of the google search engine. However, Northern Provincial Grocers believes that it is important to be honest and maintain a high level of ethics with regards to our business practices.
We encourage everyone to once again ask our customer service department for references of actual existing customers or please don't hesitate to call or look at the Better Business Bureau Link http://www.bbb.org/kitchener/busines...1008#sealclick to make an informed decision of the quality of our 22 year old, Ontario owned and operated company.
Thank you and I wish all of our existing and new customers great success and happiness with our products and services.
David Steele
Vice President
Northern Provincial Grocers

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM NORTHERN PROVINCIAL GROCERS!!! Unfortunately I did not do my homework before being taken by them. We purchased one of their packages last month and were told by the salesman that we would be receiving a certain amount of meat in pounds. I don't know where they come from but that's how I buy my meat. When the order came in it ended up being in "pieces" as they put it. We were told we were buying 480 pounds of boneless chicken-our main food in a family of 6, and it ended up being 480 pieces which worked out to be 132.3 pounds of chicken. Unfortunately over the holiday season we did not realize the huge discrepancy until after the 10 days allowed by law to return the product. I contacted them and explained the situation to the vice president, he refused to help me out, and wouldn't even provide me with an exact price list when requested. Dave stated that the amount of chicken I thought I was getting would be well over $5000 alone. Is it just me or does that sound expensive? The conversation ended with him telling me to file a complaint with the consumer protection agency if I felt wronged.
If anyone has any questions regarding this experience please feel free to contact me. Dave states that nobody leaves their personal info because they are just competitors trying to make NPG look bad. I tend to think people just don't want to be bothered answering all kinds of phone calls or e-mails. I have set up an e-mail account just for this purpose and look forward to answering any questions regarding my experience with Northern Provincial Grocers.
Sincerely,
Mike

Its pretty simple. the major grocery stores, incredibly efficient, doing BILLIONS in revenue dont have much over a 25% gross margin. How can someone claiming *1800* customers, using commissioned sales people, providing home delivery, ever going to provide any savings...or even the same price. obviously, they aren't.

Well, thanks for the input I guess. It's a little too late for me. Hahaha. No really, I do appreciate your post. From my dealings with the company it looks like it's too late for us, but I would like to think that by posting the truth out there that I can help prevent this from happening to someone else. I also want to thank you for the government links, I have already put them to use.

I hope you are not suggesting that I am logging on more than once to make them look worse than they already are, I have better things to do with my time. I am simply trying to prevent more people from getting ripped off. Please don't try to take from my credibility or the credibility of the site by suggesting otherwise. On a side note, I wish I were the other guy because he's been a member since Dec. 17th. That would have put me within the 10 days legally allowed to return the product as we received ours on the 14th of December.

All this only in this topic.
The facts that your email is rippedoffbad@live.ca and one user account fightingfoodscam only adds to the joke.
This is the highest concentration of multi account i've ever seen in a single topic.

I guess I see your point. I really wouldn't know how many people are usually in a topic, as you can see I'm new to the site and a few other sites as of the last week or so. My guess is that people jump in here to give their 2 cents worth after getting taken by NP and then don't look back, I on the other hand will be sticking around a while.

They give you the overall price, but not per item. Each package has a "case" count. The problem we encountered was that we asked how many lb. of meat we would be getting. It only made sense to ask - who buys meat by the case not knowing how big a case is, or how full the case is for that matter? Turns out what the salesman told us would be getting in pounds is what we got in "pieces" which ended up being a hair over 25% of what we expected. By the time we realized what we were sent it was too late to return. I have since requested a bill of sale showing the breakdown and the VP said it wasn't available. I asked for an up to date price list and he said no. The closest I came to getting a price from them was when I was told it was crazy to expect 480 lb. of chicken because that would have been about $6000 alone and our package was only worth $6900 - that works out to about $12.50 per pound of chicken BTW, nice wholesale savings eh? Hope this helps.

So far, so good
We received our order just the other day, and so far have tried the striploin steaks and pork chops. Being an extremely picky meat eater, I was cautious but optimistic. I have to say that both products met my expectations, and definitely seem to be restaurant quality.
I don't necessarily believe that this company will save you tons of money on your grocery bills, but after crunching numbers, I can honestly say that I am not spending more than I normally would. Plus, our family will enjoy good quality meats and will not have to haul home bulk items from the grocery store like toilet paper and cereal boxes.
If you are cognizant of what you spend on a weekly basis, and know what foods you love, I think that this company is for you. I have to vehemently disagree with the folks on here that say things like "rip-off" and "smoke and mirrors." I have also looked on the internet for other reviews, and found that for the most part, people are satisfied with the company. I even read a review from someone who has been a customer for 10 years.
In a nutshell: If you like meat (that's a must), and know your budget, you can be satisfied with your decision to use this company.
