That is exactly what you have to do. I've mentioned it several times on this thread already. For those of you still getting less than 6.5 for graphics, check your Nvidia driver version.
Right click the screen and select Nvidia Control Panel. If the version is not 295.73 then you will get a lower graphics score on WEI.
Remember, version 295.73.
The Bios settings for the Display should stay in the default mode. ie. Optimus detection ON, NVS4200 - enable.

Not sure how to help you but just to mention I did install the same RAM and my T520 automatically recognize and set it up at the highest speed possible and never had any issue...did you make sure you install the modules correctly?

Driver can be found in the SWTOOLS folder or you can download from Lenovo website. So copy it to your USB key
SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET
SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\WLANINT
After you have internet, you can download and install "ThinkVantage System Update" and launch it to install the rest of missing drivers, window update, etc...

Thanks a lot to both of you for the detailed steps and instructions. Appreciate it.

Does installing Thinkvantage tool and using that one to do the Lenovo updates means the install is not considered "clean"? Is there any advantage of installing the drivers manually one by one vs. using the Thinkvantage tool to do the dirty work?

By the way...just checked...while I do see SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\WLANINT
the other one: SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET
is nowhere to be seen in my SWTOOLS\DRIVERS folder...it just simply isn't there...am I missing something here?
Or do I get it from somewhere else?
Edit: There is something called: SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\ETHINTEL though....maybe this is the ethernet driver for T520?

How do you actually make a recovery disk? I have a drive named lenovo recovery. There is nothing in it but it shows 6 gb free out of 15.6.

Just to let you know guys...spoke to MyDigitalDiscount again this morning and they confirmed my new MyDigitalSSD 128GB 50mm Bullet Proof mSATA SSD - MDMS-50128 comes with its latest firmware (FW15) already done on it....so no need to waste time and effort on doing it...we can go straight to installing Win7 on it...thought this is good news for those who decided to order that mSATA drive.

Control Panel --> Lenovo Factory Recovery Disks (then follow the prompts after launching it).
If you want it on DVDs, have a handful of them handy before you begin. If you want it on an external hard drive, plug that into the laptop before launching recovery disks in Control Panel, so that it will show up in the media selection dropdown menu there.
(It takes quite a long time to finish. I haven't done it myself yet, but a previous post suggested 1.5 hours, I think, from beginning to end).

And you'll need 4 DVD's to finish it...

Symptom of faulty memory. Run a memory diagnostic tool.. I forget the name of a good program.

I'm looking to connect my existing headset to the combo jack. Anyone know of a cheaper alternative to this?

That was easy.
Installed new SSD and used the CD-Key under battery to activate Win 7. Thought I'd have to transfer license and jump through some hoops.

We have same problem after installing Windows 8, even hitting the Blue ThinkVantage button during restart there's no option to reload the image factory recovery.
