that's not new. Kodi has been able to show your android installed apps for quite a long time.
It allows people to set Kodi as the launcher (instead of the regular homescreen) and still have access to all their installed apps.

Why wouldn't it be normal? I am confused now.
Are you talking about how in Kodi, under Add-ons -> Android Apps you see all your installed android apps listed? Yes this is normal. This is just Kodi displaying what apps you have installed on your Shield and allowing you to open the apps without having to leave Kodi.
It's pretty straight forward.

Ok thanks! Never seen this before as I’ve always had Kodi on a firestick. I didn’t realize it attaches itself.

FWIW
1. The USB port on the NVIDIA runs rather hot. I would encourage you to connect thumb drives and dongles, etc. via a USB hub instead of plugging them directly into the Shield.
2. I recently went through an RMA with SanDisk over a dead USB thumb drive. Expect this to take 2 to 3 weeks. In my case first they want photos of the drive. Then they wanted them again, this time showing model/serial. Then they wanted me to send in the drive using proof-of-delivery. That would have cost more than the value of the drive so I just used letter mail and hoped for the best. Finally they acknowledged receipt and sent the replacement by UPS Express. The process was rather tedious for such a low value item but it ended well.

Hahaha yes I’m going through that now. I emailed and told them it would cost so much to send it back. And if I can just return it locally. Crazy for such a small item. Like yourself I think I’ll send it regular mail.

Thanks

Go to CPC's website and look up lettermail rates to the US. Then look at the dimensions that qualify as a "letter." I managed to get the thumb drive into a small bubble envelope that met their criteria and was exactly 30gm weight (the limit.) It cost me less than $2 to mail it. Good luck.

BobSagget wrote: Yes that happens occasionally. pretty sure it happens with any bluetooth remote because the remotes are set up to go to sleep if they are idle, to save battery life. They usually wake up pretty quick though but the odd time it's a few extra seconds.

Back when I used to use the shield remote, this used to happen and it would sometimes take like literally 30-60 seconds to wake up properly. The fire remote works a thousand times better.
Ya but the issue I face is that I'll be pressing buttons or have pressed them very recently (Max 1min prior) and the remote will 'die' for 3-6 seconds. I'll see if things are better on 7.2.3

You had to send yours to the USA? I’m pretty sure mine is being sent to Guelph. Hmm. I’ll have to double check.

Thanks

This thread has not been updated in a while. Figured I'd post some apps that other users might not already have.

These are not my modded apps, so I am not taking credit for them. I got them from xda-developers forum. I believe they're all ripped from fire stick 4k (Canadian and UK versions). They've had the amazon requirements removed, so they should all work on the Shield.

A new Twitch.TV app. Way better than the garbage one that was in the play store.

Global Go app (Global TV)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ablew22tqusn4 ... 2.apk?dl=1
stream tv shows offered by Global TV from your Shield! Tested it briefly and it works great!

CTV app
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ablew22tqusn4 ... 2.apk?dl=1
(stream tv shows offered by CTV - requires cable log in I think)

CraveTV app
https://www.dropbox.com/s/vz1gzidx9qe27 ... d.apk?dl=1
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ed73x5osyd7gq ... D.apk?dl=1
Second link is a apk to place a crave tv shortcut on your home screen. Optional, but recommended.
(just in time for Game of Thrones season 8)

My5 [UK] (needs a smart dns or vpn)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rp8ui05lbsxi4 ... D.apk?dl=1
Lots of UK shows! Love 'Can't Pay? We'll Take It Away!'

UKTV Play [UK] (needs smart dns or vpn)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/n3lldpejc52wu ... y.apk?dl=1
https://www.dropbox.com/s/jff4tjgs4aact ... V.apk?dl=1
Second link is again a shortcut to put a uktv play icon on your home screen.
Again, lots of UK shows to watch. Needs VPN or smart DNS

Does anyone know which VPN offers the Android TV APP and works with Netflix? I started my 7 day trial with NordVPN because they said it works with Netflix and they offer the Android TV app but then came to figure out it doesn't allow netflix with the TV APP. Any recommendations? I would try ExpressVPN but their trial is misleading. They give you 3 months free after you paid for 12 months up-front. No thanks

Thanks. The last link is for Cravetv again, not UKTV.

Thanks, fixed. Stupid dropbox was not copying the links properly.

Also I forgot that by default the UKTV Play app doesn't show up on the home screen, so you can also install this UKTV Play shortcut that lets you put a nice banner icon on your home screen

I am not currently a netflix subscriber, but in the past I used Uno Telly and Unlocator successfully to watch US netflix. These are not VPNs though but smart DNS.
They both offer free trials

Windscribe works well for both US and UK Netflix.
