Fake your own death. With that kind of money it wouldn't be hard to pay off a few people to spin the story lol.

So lucky that person. I hope it was a group play of some sort
That person's life just changed forever. "Lucky" might not be the right term depending on what they do from this day forward.

We did not buy our tickets in South Carolina but we did win U$52. Enough to buy some Powerball tickets for tonight's draw. The jackpot is an estimated U$354 million.

But if your death is taken seriously by the authorities, and it very well could be given the high visibility it would have, then the authorities might very well carry on executing your estate, ie passing your money on (and taxing it too) based on your will. D'oh!

A single ticket won in south carolina
Imagine if it was just a single person winning that and even after paying taxes for the lump sum, it’s almost a billion dollars after tax. Shoot from next to no wealth to billionaire overnight lol make that Forbes list.

Actually no. The lump sum is about $905M and SC pays 7% state tax to add to the approx 30% Federal.

$905 * 63% = $570M

They should then tell all 'investment advisors' that phone/write/bang on their door to take a hike, and put $70M into short term GICs and the $500M remaining into Vanguard's S&P 500 Index fund which has a management fee of only 0.04% and pays out 1.92% annual dividends which is $9.6M/yr pre-tax ($6M after tax in SC). No need for fancy lawyers, accountants and financial advisors. Then they can sit back and decide what to do with the money.

Alternatively, given the fee on the $500M even at the super-low MER of 0.04% is $200K/yr and rising over time as the fund rises, just buy all the stocks in the S&P500 yourself or pay some kid to key the buys in on your direct trading account. Once a year sell or buy whatever changes the S&P500 committee makes to the index. Easy peasy.

EDIT: Turned out to be $878M lump sum in the end, so $553M after tax.

Now that Mega Millions has been won, we can focus on Powerball.

Group U24 bought 10 Powerball tickets for the October 24 draw. The jackpot is an estimated U$354.3 million. Each share can win C$4.5 million after taxes.
