OES Fee for Refurbished TV??
I went to an electronic store on Yonge St. to shop a refurbished TV. They said there is a $26.25 OES fee on refurbished TV as well. I thought that OES (Ontario Environmental Stewardship) fees only applies to brand new electronics (i.e. TV, Computer, Monitor, etc).
I just wanted to make sure that if it applies to the refurbished products as well.
Thank you in advance.

Technically it is up to the retailer; they can charge it however they like.

21) Can retailers/manufacturers of EEE charge consumers a fee when they purchase these products?
The WEEE diversion program does not tell the companies that are obligated to remit fees on the designated products how to manage these costs. It is up to the individual companies and their retail customers to make their own decisions. Some companies will internalize the cost, while others may charge consumers an environmental handling fee at the point of purchase.

They are NOT supposed to be charging any OES fees for Refurbished products (including Computers, etc.) OES is for only NEW products. If they are charging, then they are pocketing it themselves.
