There are usually sales on iTunes gift cards from some place or another, but the upshot is usually 20% off. For example:

$25 on sale for $20 = $5 off which is 20% off $25
$50 on sale for $40 = $10 off which is 20% off of $50

3 x $10 = $30 on sale for $24 = $6 off which is 20% off $30
2 x $25 = $50 on sale for $40 = $10 off which is 20% off $50
4 x $15 = $60 on sale for $48 = $12 off which is 20% off $60

Not a week goes by where there isn't some retailer offering iTunes cards at 20% off... sometimes it's FS / BB, I've seen them on sale at Pharma Plus, even Food Basics. Shoppers Drug Mart. Zellers. Wal-Mart. The list goes on.

Since this deal seems to be regularly available, it makes sense to post the information in a single thread rather than making a new thread for every one. Like the Staples coupon thread, you just go to the last page of the thread and you can always see what coupons are available... in this case you would go to the end of the thread and see which store is offering 20% off this week.

iTunes Cards FAQ

1) Can I use US iTunes cards with a Canadian iTunes account, and vice-versa?
A) no. iTunes cards are nation-specific: UK cards at UK iTunes store, US cards at US iTunes store, Canada cards at Canadian iTunes store... you get the idea. This kind-of goes with the fact that iTunes ACCOUNTS are tied to specific country iTunes stores. You CAN have multiple iTunes accounts, with different stores, but that's a subject for some other FAQ elsewhere.

2) Can I buy ANYTHING digital with iTunes cards? Apps, Music, Movies, Mac OSX upgrades, etc, with iTunes cards?
A) yes. That is to say, there are no separate "iTunes" cards and "App Store" cards, despite the different graphics printed on some cards that suggest it is an "iBooks" card or "App Store" card.

3) Will I be charged provincial tax / GST / HST at the retailer when I buy the card?
A) NO YOU SHOULD NOT. If a retailer is telling you you have to pay tax on the gift card DEMAND to speak to the store manager, because you should not be paying sales tax on it. If the store manager insists, be sure to forward the store information to the CRA as they have a federal tax audit in their future. :-P

first party vendors are not allowed on-line orders for itunes gift cards. there is a secondary market at cardswap.ca, but not at -20%.

I did a self-scan for three different iTunes cards at Walmart yesterday and they all came up as full-priced.
