Might as well list all the 3D Blu-ray devices as well. There's the Samsung that is currently being promoted with the Samsung TV's and the PS3

I don't think this thread is necessary. There's barely any 3D content being released for the first little while, the glasses cost $250 here in Canada and these are the 2nd gen 3D tv's which I assume will quickly be replaced by the glassesless models.
Nice tv's and everything but 3D will be small niche market for the next year or two.
Mikey, it was a good idea for the thread but this should be moved to the discussion area. These tv's aren't a deal as much as they are the cherry on top of a sundae._______________

Who wants to buy first gen tech like this? By the time enough content comes to market we will be on 3rd gen of the tech. Only then will it be worth getting into this.

For those looking for lower-end (cheaper) models, Samsung will have a 46" LCD (non-LED backlit) model for $1900, and a 50" plasma for $2400. Ref: http://technology.canoe.ca/2010/03/10/13182481-cp.html
(Gripe: In USA the plasma is only about $100 more than the LCD; it should not be $500 more here.)

The point is that most people buy a new TV very infrequently. So for those already looking to buy an HDTV this year, they should think about the 3D situations and take all factors into account. e.g. if I plan to keep this new TV for 5/7/10 years, should I pay a bit more now for 3D (which won't have much content for another X years or so), or should I save money now and perhaps miss out on significant amount of 3D contents for "5/7/10 minus X years" etc.
P.S. I agree this thread belongs to a shopping discussion section, until there are some actual sales on 3D HDTVs.

This isn't the first gen, this is the second gen.
The first gen came out a few years ago, eg. samsung plasma 450 series, samsung DLP 750 and 650 series. Mitsuibishi also has 3d read DLP's from 2 years ago.
3rd or 4th gen will be glassesless, Philips 3d glassesless tv is a perfect example the WOWvx.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WOWvx
Don't be mistaken, 3D movie content at home is like waving money in movie studio's faces. Not only has 3D content boosted theatre attendance but it is set to slow the progression of illegal distribution of movies. There is going to be huge demand for this and all companies involved are going to try to make as much money off of it as possible. Just as with any new technology, its expensive at first but prices fall.Last edited by lincoln; Mar 11th, 2010 at 08:56 PM.

Rather than buy a $4,000 TV today I would rather buy one $2,000 TV today which is non-3D and then another $2,000 3D TV in 3 years when the tech is better. The $2,000 TV in 3 years will be far better than the $4,000 TV today.

nothing against the other members because I agree that its not a 'HOT DEAL' but other threads that also aren't 'Hot deals' survive in this thread.
3DTV is coming and while you guys may not be willing to pony up the money or have the money to buy one like myself, the OP clearly might and is gonna be an early adopter.
Don't need to get mad at him for trying to help others in his case looking for the current 3D deals, whether they are hot or cold as both types of deals have been existing in this large thread for a long time._______________
