I don't worship lenses, nor do I see the 3 primes as a "trinity"there is only one Holy Trinity and they certainly aren't lenses

On my GF1, I set the Film Mode to Dynamic, but cut back on the contrast -1 and the noise reduction -1 and increase the saturation +1 and the sharpenning +1. I then use the live histogram to set the exposure compensation while shooting in Aperture priority.

are you satisfy with your "modify Dynamic" setting? does that still solve the problem of poor jpeg engine?

I'm thinking of picking up the OMD-M5 to replace my GF2 now the M5 bodies are back in stock. There's also a rebate $150 rebate on their lenses at the same time.
But maybe I should just wait a few weeks? Not sure what Olympus has up their sleeve. The M5 seems like an excellent camera after handling it in the store....feels solid but I still wish it had a built in flash is my only nickpick.
Thoughts?

hey guys, i am still looking to unload a few of the older m4/3 bodies. I will sell them for cheaper than any other ones you see, (GF1, EPL1, EPM1, G10 available) and you can choose between pancake 20mm or 45mm to add to the body.. (not selling lens alone, sorry), just PM me, I will beat any reasonable prices for you guys here

Hey guys and gals. I'm thinking of purchasing an 'EVIL' camera with the intention of using manual focus FD lenses the majority of the time (so I can just carry around my film body + the EVIL camera). Would there be a particular camera that would be best suited for this purpose? I.e. Some sort of feature that'll help with manual focusing (since there aren't any focusing screens on new cameras). Thanks!

There is a way you can set one of your function buttons to zoom in when in live view, so you can manual focus accurately. Also I would recommend a Olympus camera because it has in body stabilization, so manual lenses can benefit from it. I am selling an Olympus EPM1 body for only $230, and since I use adapters as well, I can show you how's it's done

just the 14-150 and kit zoom. I'm looking to pick up a pancake and considering the 45mm prime. I didn't want to invest too much in the lenses because I wasn't sure which system I'd settle on, but now that I've seen what Canon, Nikon, Sony are offering, I don't feel uncomfortable investing in m43 more. The M5 just feels right, it's a camera that makes it so fun to take pictures, it's one I can cozy up with for a long time (without the temptation to keep upgrading every time there's another m43 deal)

on the contrary, I believe most people here will actually agree that it is much better to invest in lenses vs camera bodies. something like a Panasonic 20mm pancake has never gone down in value (panny 20 actually gone up in price and the demand is higher than ever), where as something like a GX1 body has been dropping in prices repeatedly... I would definitely sell ur 14-150 to get primes, although nothing can beat its versatility, you will get better pictures with something like 20mm or the 45mm that you mentioned... it is a great investment, one that will last in value

i am happy with my gh2 for video, the only thing is :when i adjust thew focus distance and later switch off to save the battery ,it reset the focus to default. It is easy to forget , because i have all the others lenses manual focus. it let me down twice. did't find any settings for this one.

On the contrary what exactly? I'm going to be buying some better lenses for sure. As I said, I had to settle on the SYSTEM first. Now that I decided to invest in m43, I'm ready to buy the lenses that I need. So I'm thinking of adding the body and a prime or two at the same time.
The big zoom I'm keeping as a travel lens, the whole point of my adopting m43 is to get rid of the bulk and not have to travel or carry around a bunch of lenses. Been there done that with a bag full of equipment. A wide angle prime would be perfect addition first and then I will consider adding a portrait or macro prime to my listLast edited by warpdrive; Aug 14th, 2012 at 10:11 AM.

Oh never mind lol, I misread, I thought u rather get the best body first before lenses.. My bad.
The 14-150 is great, if you travel a lot then your right about it's value. Unless you are planning on spending $800 on a 12 f2, then the 14mm on the 14-150 is all you need.. The 14 2.5 is not that great, but it is very portable. I owned a 7-14mm wide angle, and I would recommend you looking into getting one of those if you have the money for it
