Ah, here is one way to find DS players in your area. http://www.linkupengine.com/ I haven't used it myself, but it's there.
Also, someone has successfully tunnelled picto chat. It's a start.
There's some articles here on how the DS is selling
http://ds.ign.com/articles/569/569826p1.html
http://ds.ign.com/articles/570/570376p1.html
They use the touch screen for band brothers, but it's not like it's needed for the game.
Oh and also Baten Kaitos DS and Xenosaga DS has been announced in Japan. They're listed on Nintendo's web site, but you'd have to be able to read Japanese.
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/list/index.html
They're listed 2 and 3 above "Metroid Prime Hunters Tournament"

バテン・カイトスDS(仮称)
ゼノサーガDS(仮称)

That is a neat concept. This is easily doable also on the PSP since they're not even using the touchscreen.
I love game concepts like these. It's too bad it's been 2 weeks and I've only been able to link up with one other fellow DS gamer

Looks like tunneling is coming along on the DS. They say they've been able to tunnel picto chat and the Metriod Prime Demo.

Anyone know when Wario Ware or that Band Game is coming out for the US market?
That will likely be my next 2 DS game purchases as the drought seems to be on
I already have Feel the Magic, Spiderman and Mario._______________

Does anyone else have bad hand cramping with the system? I held it differently while playing with Pictochat; with an actual game, not using a stylus in gameplay, it's brutal...
A lot of it has to do with the weight (over a GBA/GBA SP), which is killer on the palms. Any advice?

Dec 6th, 2004 09:24 PM #39sorry, wouldn't really know I nvr had hand cramps. I guess its just they way you're holding the system. try hooking your pinkys under the console for support

Nope no cramping for me.
Also, lots of people are saying that Asphault is far better than reviews suggest. Who knows. Hopefully I can rent it. Haven't checked if they have DS games for rent yet.

Is there any truth that the first few times, you should let your DS completely drain before charging it? I did that once (it actually blacked out in the middle of a level, heh), and am considering if I should do "full charges" for the next half-dozen or so times it needs more power.

It's Li-Ion. It's not supposed to have the memory effect.
I fully charged mine the first time and I've been getting 8 hours battery life before needing to charge. Did you let yours run down fully?
When mine turned red, I still had about 2 hours to go._______________
From a "Family" reviewer: "We Cheer teaches coordination, enticement to lust, women being used as sex objects, and team work."
From Worthy Playing: "We Cheer is, then, for all intents and purposes, the F-Zero GX of music games. It asks for so much, yet forgives so little. It is actually so casual that it's hardcore."

Discharging a Li-Ion battery can damage it. That's why it comes with a partial charge. Don't run it dead. Frequent charging is best.
Here's what I read about them:
RichG2
I noticed alot of peeps using their new DS system without charging it. RTFM... I don't mean to be the battery police, but I would rather give an information "Hook-Up" to those who might not know. Knowledge is power. Lithium Ion Batteries are power. So I will impart knowledge so you guys can have more power.. or whatever. My battery is lasting 8-10 hours per charge, I have only recharged my system once so far.
Litium Ion Batteries don't have memory, but you can still kill them quickly with improper storage (heat) and charging, or rather "Over Depleting".
Most Lithium Ion batteries are given a storage charge to keep the chemicals in the batteries "Fresh" but not enough to power the system with out risking a full discharge.
Its actually pretty bad to do a FULL DISCHARGE of lithium ion batteries, it can impact future performance of the battery severely.
Here are some more lithium ion battery tips I hope will benefit some.
Should I use up all battery energy before charging?
No, it is better to recharge more often; avoid frequent full discharges.
Yes, on batteries with a built in fuel gauge (Laptops), allow a full discharge once a month to enable reset. This is only for accuracy of the fuel gauge and power management.(Doesn't apply to the DS or SP)
Should I charge my battery partially or fully?
Does not matter. Charging in stages is acceptable. Full charge termination occurs by reading the voltage level and charge current. Charging a full battery is safe and does not cause harm.
Should the battery be kept charged when not in use?
Best to store at 40% charge or 3.75-3.80V/cell open terminal. Cool storage is more important than state-of-charge. Do not fully deplete battery because Li-ion may turn off its protection circuit.
Will the battery heat up during charge?
No, little heating is generated during charge. This is something that occurs in a NiCad charge. Do not allow the battery to heat during charge.
What should I know about chargers?
Charger should apply full charge. Avoid economy chargers that advertise one-hours charge. Fastest full-charge time: 2-3 hours. Nintendo's charge strategy is a safe, yet fast 4 hours charge for maximum life.
I need to give credit to http://www.batteryuniversity.com for documentsing everything anyone would ever want to know about rechargable batteries.Last edited by Doug; Dec 8th, 2004 at 12:52 AM.
