Got my Japanese Lite flashed yesterday by a friendly dude in Guelph. Went quick and painless with no issues - he had done quite a few phat DS'es and had all the right stuff. He actually mentioned the SL1 is easier then the older DSes. Just had a little difficulty getting the battery cover off.

From reading around it looks like the Aussie DSes are flashing fine also.

In some instances Flashme doesn't recognize the firmware, but flashes fine. Brightness settings work great post flash.

Please don't PM me asking where to get your Lites flashed. This was a favour and I'm not about to give the guy's name out. Took me forever to find a guy as it is. If I had a passme I'd probably try it myself, its pretty easy provided you have an insulated flashing tool.

anyone with a passme/passkey2/pass"insert any name"2 and a flash cart can do it easily

its not hard, i flashed 3 fat ds's and will flash a lite when it comes in

the fat ds are easier to flash cause they dont have anything else to short out by accident to turn off the ds midway

the lite ds, just make sure u use a metal coathanger thats not painted and it fits perfectly in the hole, and dont wiggle it around too much else u touch another part next to the SL1 which will turn it off halfway (although it should be pretty hard unless u angle it alot)

how much did u pay the guy to flash it for you or was it a favor, a passme is like 25bux cdn shipped

its simle to make such a tool, just take a small screwdriver, or as somoen else suggested a coathanger, ut a srip of electrical tape as close to the end as you can without going over, and put it in the hole. done

You can definitely preorder the DS Lite at EB, as I have. This is, as far as I know, the safest way to ensure you get a system on launch day (aside from lining up).

You can also preorder the DS Lite online at Best Buy (in-store pick-up is not available, as far as I know), although I'm not sure you can preorder in-store yet.

I am not bothering to pre-order so I can use my GCs and this coupon. Somehow I doubt the DS will run out of stock, unless they deliberately understock it.

Just picked up a Supercard SD and a Max Media Card (really simplfied version of a passme device) while in Hong Kong. Cost was $200HK for the Max Media and $240HK for the Supercard SD (exchange rate is around $7HK to $1CDN).

Was thinking about the passme so I could do the flash as well but since the Max Media is the same size as a regular DS game and it does the same thing as a passme, I thought I'd go the low risk route. Cost was low on the card as well - no tax.

The HK vendors only carried Supercards as the M3 flashcards were almost double the cost and therefore too much for their customers.

They'll be carrying the EZFlash IV soon from what I understand - will probably pick one up next time I'm over.

The SD cards were a pretty good deal as well - paid $518HK for a 2GB Kingston Ultimate (120X).

So far so good with the Supercard and Max Media combo, plays all NDS. Just need to test it on the GBA, movies and pictures.

Will see investigate if I can do a flash with the Max Media - not really needed given the size of the Max Media but will save buying more Max Media cards.

wow that's pretty cheap compared to kicktrading. max media is good but it'll drain more of the battery out compared to a flashed DS (like 2 hours i heard).

anyone want to lend me the passkey2/passme2/superpass2 for a McD's meal ? how about a friend? or tetris rival
