Cost per sheet is pure madness!!!!!!! Albeit very thorough. Asia has 4-ply and my head exploded doing cost/ply for the whole aisle.
The rule of thumb my mom taught me is <$0.10/roll for rock bottom quality, $0.15-0.20/roll for average (i.e. royale), $<0.30/roll for premium

I'm in the market for some TP, this thread is very useful.
I think I have about another day or two before I'm due to go shopping.

But what if there are two brands that have the same number of rolls for the same price, but one brand of has only 200 sheets per roll, but the other has 352 sheets?
If you just go by price per roll, both brands come out to be the same... but in reality, you get 76% more toilet paper for the second brand!
Edit: Just to further emphasize on the point, it doesn't even have to be different brands.
For example, take Cottonelle. Say you go to the store, and all of the 12-packs are the same price:

I guess it doesn't matter which one you buy, right?
Wrong!
The regular blue one has 352 sheets per roll. The aloe green one has 260 sheets per roll. The thicker purple one has only 200 sheets per roll.
Obviously there are differences between those three products, but if you're just looking for the most toilet paper for your dollar, it would not be sufficient to just determine the price per roll.

Me too! There's like a mushroom cloud of dust every time I tear! Is there ANY toilet paper that doesn't do that?

Have you tried Charmin? That stuff is literally more like paper towel than toilet paper.

Lmfao. InvisibleSoul, I think I love you.
For the past while, I've been like, "Hmm. I wonder what the quality of each brand of toilet paper is like and when the sale prices are -actually- good." Then I found this thread today
And man, you even did all the math so we'll know -exactly- what we're paying for. Good job, man. You've been thanked and bookmarked =)

If you have a steady job and aren't afraid of the recession, invest in baby-wipes for use in the washroom. Your ass will thank me.
