‘Hemisphere-wide implications’: Nasa warns temperatures in Europe could plunge if Arctic warming causes major ocean current to reverse

Massive buildup of freshwater could be released into Atlantic, disrupting currents that keep western Europe warm

A major ocean current in the Arctic could reverse amid warming temperatures, a change which would bring significantly colder weather to western Europe, scientists at Nasa have warned.

The circular current, called the Beaufort Gyre, moves in a clockwise direction around the western Arctic Ocean, north of Canada and Alaska, where it naturally collects freshwater from glacial melt, river run-off and precipitation.

This freshwater protects sea ice from salty water which would melt it faster, and helps keep the north of the planet cool.

I really liked day after tomorrow. May be another ice age will come and totally put the scientific community on its head in terms of what their model is telling them. A lot of these predictions are just guesswork or rely on the numbers to be linear. Throw a monkey wrench in and everything can change at the drop of a hat.

People are being snowed . It's been said by many politicians repeat a lie enough times it becomes the truth . No carbon tax will change anything . The biggest polluter keep polluting . The focus is always political . Wealth redistribution is what climate change is about . Just ask Soros .

Ugh, 15-25 cm of snow expected by early Wednesday and Thursday. Biggest winter storm of the season!

Hope GTA is spared but doesn't look like it
