A lot of people are loosing power again so the situation is getting worse for a lot of people. If you look on twitter and search power out, you see how many people are tweeting about their power going out.

Who's still without power? I just passed day five, or 122 hours without power as of this writing. My home thermometer says that it's -1 celsius inside now.

^ wow that's madness. Things in the fridge can't go bad cuz it's already cold, but that is the least of worries.

Lol good. That is consistent with what I was seeing on twitter. A lot of users reported losing power, only to tweet again 5 minutes later saying that the power is back :)

Back to the topic of the storm damage, I will ask the police what needs to be done about this house. The whole week has passed almost and no contact can be made to the landlord that just returned to China again. I noticed that the size of the storm debris means that a professionally trained person will indeed be required to remove the storm debris safely without causing damage to the components. There is noone here to take responsibility at all. There is no way that the wires can just stay there supporting a ton of tree parts for half of the coming year. There is just no way. I am paying rent to a house that has it's power connection on the brink of rupture by storm debris and no landlord to talk to about it or to arrange to get it fixed.

I did not spot anything in the GFS. Must not be coming until Friday.

EDIT: I took to twitter and found it. I have still not spotted the timing expected, but clearly it is expected to come.

Ok. I checked and did not find much of anything either. There were reports that this afternoon through evening were supposed to bring winds up to 40k that could worsen the condition of trees, but forecasts and actual observations aren't showing this anymore. Although I did see Pearson did observe the 40k winds earlier this afternoon, so the thread already had past. This was the statement released earlier today:

Alerts for: City of Toronto
Statements

City of Toronto
3:28 PM EST Thursday 26 December 2013
Special weather statement for
City of Toronto continued

Moderate winds through early evening for regions most affected by the ice storm.

In areas affected by the ice storm, winds are forecast to remain in the 20 to 40 km/h range until early this evening, then gradually diminish. These wind speeds would normally have little or no impact, however with trees remaining heavily ice covered, this may be enough to bring down additional branches, resulting in further sporadic power outages.

Why the gov't won't loan out generators and heaters to the homes that still have no power? The gov't knows how to raise your taxes, and give themselves raises each year, but nothing for the freezing man! Oh and you have to pay more for hydro now too!

I was pondering the idea of moving to the city of Cuzco, Peru which is near Macchu Picchu for the warm half of the year in Toronto because the culture is cool and so is the weather!
Here is what it looks like in the city I am considering movin to for a bit of time: This place looks really neat

O ok that's good news about the power. Must have done bad to the place though.

And about Peru, I have not made plan yet, but considered it's good climate in the plans. It is easy to just move there. Much easier than just moving to Toronto or LA or Madrid because it is so cheap.

The city I am planning on moving to In Peru has a cold climate and the nights are always near freezing. It is a very historical city that used to be the biggest city in all of latin america and was the heart of the Incan empire. Here are some phots of the exact neighborhood I plan to live in in Cuzco, Peru:

I won't move there permanently, but would be interesting to spend a large amount of time living there some time. It never gets very warm and you always have to be prepared for the cold because nights are frosty in both winter and summer. Best place to live if you always want to be chilled.

Yes. Very good point. Place looks legit! well kept and the is one of the few remaining cities that really keeps that old feel in a charming way. They are together like a big community together. they take care of the environment together because that is important. The clean air and good vibe nake it a very cool place to be. I am sure there are many people here that would not mind experimenting with living there for a bit. Truly great place. very safe. Whole place is surrounded by history.

Another interesting thing will be wearing the peruvian versions of cold weather clothing. They look very different from the clothing here and it will be so cool to bring back the unique peruvina winter ware to Canada and wear it here in our winters and fall.
