Alerts for: City of Toronto
7:35 PM EDT Sunday 27 July 2014
Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:
City of Toronto
Conditions will be favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms. Thunderstorms that develop may be capable of producing wind gusts to 100 km/h, hail 2 to 4 cm in diameter, and rainfall in the 50 to 75 mm range. There is also a low chance of a brief tornado.
By late this evening, the severe weather threat is expected to diminish, however showers and isolated thunderstorms, with associated heavy rain, may continue through the overnight hours in some areas.
Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. In Canada, lightning kills up to 10 people every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.
Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required, so stay tuned to your local media or Weatheradio. Email reports of severe weather to firstname.lastname@example.org or tweet with the hashtag #ONStorm.
