You should add only GTA in the title.

It's not even all of GTA, Brampton is in the list but Ajax isn't

Isnt it odd that the OLG only offers this deal in a specific geographic area?

Targeted by census stats perhaps

So true, OLG did NOT do similar promotion for Jewish New Year, nor the Chinese Moon Festival, etc. And yet to see Halloween for some European cultures.

I have absolutely no stats to back this up, but I suspect OLG has been targeting groups (whether that be age, ethnicity, or region) to play more or begin playing at all.

This could be one such campaign, but what got me thinking this originally was when I started seeing “You would win so and so” poster ads for playing this month. One of those posters mentioned tickets to see some band in concert - but I thought most “working class” adults could care less about this band so why make that a perk? Likely to attract young adults to begin playing, especially since ages 18-32 (I think) are known to be the biggest spenders.

Anyway just my two cents. Which we all know is rounded down to nothing.

Wallet safe! Umm, maybe not.

Re: other promos like this:
There have been plenty of other "spend $x get bonus" offers posted before. Maybe now they are expanding to do more cultural events as they are likely to increase sales. Or this promo got noticed more for some reason. I imagine the success of these type of promotions will lead to more and more targeted ones because they generate significant increases in revenue. The hardcore players will likely take advantage of any and all of them. This is the OLG, not a certain president's casinos, they know how to make money from gambling.

Some communities enjoy gambling more than others, so it makes business sense to go where the opportunities are. Some cultural events might not be included because some groups may find it offensive for gambling to be associated with those events. There's probably plenty of thought that goes into these things when looking for promotional opportunities. They don't want to be like the idiots in the US who did that offensive 9/11 mattress sale commercial.

Just did a search and found this: Chinese New Year Free Lai-See Pack Promotion http://chinese.olg.ca/sc/pdf/CNY-Partic ... ailers.pdf
So yeah, they do this, or are starting to.

Anyway, if you're alive, you're lucky! Continued good luck to us all!

This promotion costs them nothing except the extra paper to print the tickets. The people who play the lotto are even bigger suckers this month since their odds of winning are watered down even more with free tickets given out to other players.

how does olg giving out tickets decrease your chance of winning? Although buying more tickets doesn't really increase your chance in any meaningful way until you start spending $$$$$$$$. That is why if i do play i only buy 1 ticket.

*edit ok so by watered down i think you meant there's a higher chance that the prize will be split. Honestly if you won the grand prize for the lottery I don't think you would care that the prize was split.

that's now how lotteries (nor odds) work. regardless of the number of winners, your odds of winning will always be the same for each game. the only thing that changes with more winners is your share of the grand prize.
