Odd, I work on a trading floor and a lot of people I know that give their 2 weeks notice to go to another bank never get escorted out. The only people that are escorted out are those that are let go. When I gave my 2 weeks notice from the bank I was in before, I was able to train the people acquiring my duties for the 2 weeks before I left for another Bank. I had full access to all the trading servers and databases.
They were probably giving them enough time to carry all their losses with them to the other bank

Any client facing role you will escorted out asap. This is to prevent you from telling any clients wtf is up and poaching them time of or beforehand.

The reason on a trade floor, is because you are not allowed to trade after you announce you leaving, your position is passed over to person X, asked to manage/wind it down. Likewise again they do not wany clients to know you are gone, the next morning its business as usual just a new dude in your seat, bank keeps going. It would be suicide for a trading firm to allow a person in client facing/gross margin position to be allowed to stay-on with a set going away date.
