enter zip friend as the code, then you will have 4 options to pick from on the following page, I chose redeem promo code and typed zipfriend AGAIN, choose your account type (I chose 3 DVDs at a time), then it says you've signed up for FREETRIAL, but when you go to your account info, it doesn't indicate it's a one month trial...
to make sure it's a one month trial, after you sign up, go to help, and at the top menu click "contact support" (I forget exactly what the label is, but it's to the left of the menu item "my questions") and write a message to zip saying that you signed up for a one month trial, but your account doesn't reflect this. they will send a message back to you the next day saying that "we checked your account and yes you won't be billed until next month"
If you don't want the service, make sure you cancel the service a couple days before one month from when you signed up (it's easy, there is a cancel button in your account info)
If you like the service, keep it!
I don't know why their one month trial thing doesn't show up in your account, but it DOES work, but DO SEND THEM that support message so there is no question that you are on the free trial.

You can get the one month trial without a code these days. It says so on the front page of Zip.ca.
This, however, is a much better deal. It's for 4 months of Zip. I tried it in September and it was still working so I think there's a good chance it still does and even if it doesn't I'm sure you'll still get the standard one month free.
