Definitely higher than what RFDers in Toronto are seeing, but that is Toronto.
Note that the LDC connection charge is extra. Have they given you an expected amount for that?
Best bet is to get multiple quotes.
Do you have microFIT approval already?
I went with Polaron last fall and we are just waiting on the LDC request. I am paying $3.05 /watt, but ended up going with them because I didn't have much time to do research, and they seemed to be the most professional. They also gave me a rebate when the price dropped in Dec and we didn't get the last year rate.

Yes definitely get more quotes as that quote is at least 5 grand over what you should get. If this guy has done any work in Ottawa, he should know the approximate connection charge.

I just moved into a new house in Markham and my wife and I decided to look into solar.
We have 1 quote so far but based on my reading of this forum, the price seems quite high so I wanted to get some input from others with more experience.
What do you think?

The system is a 10kW MicroFit + 3.8kW Net Metering install.
  • 14x Solar Panels CSI CS6K-260P
  • 30x Solar Panels CSI CS6K-325P
  • 1x Inverter Solar Edge SE3000A-US
  • 1x Inverter Solar Edge SE10000A-US
  • 22x Optimizers Solar Edge P300
  • Kinetic K-Rack
  • Squirrel Guard
TurnKey Cost $46,600
Optimizer Upgrade $6,000
Total Cost with HST $52,700

This quote seems very high based on what I have been reading.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Ya that does seem very high. It would have extra hardware and electrical work for net metering in addition to the microfit meter, but that wouldn't account for the difference.

Net metering is a lot less profitable than microFIT and there are a lot of "hidden leaks" in the value you get (Don't get HST back, HST on energy generated not credited, moving to Tiered pricing vs TOU, credit at Tier 1 pricing). If you want net metering for non-$ related reasons, cool, but it is not a good investment right now.

This guy is ripping you off. The p300 optimizers are at the most $150 each and Im high here. He is charging you 6gs just for the optimizers. I could break down the rest but not worth the time. I will PM you my guy.

It won't take more than 15 minutes. Instructions are here: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/ont-only ... #p21797977
Is it possible to update that post? The link is broken. There's another different PDF available for 2016 and the descriptions of sections and lines no longer exactly apply. Think I got most of it sorted away and I really appreciate you compiling all the info!

based on the number i've seen here, it seems a standard 10kW setup cost about 20~30k.

Isnt Delivery Charge from Enersource a Business expense for tax purposes?
Toronto Hydo doesnt have similar charge?
Yes. They didn't bill that for my first year when I wrote that post. Then they billed me in arrears!

Great. Do you mind updating your post. ont-only-microfit-solar-panel-program-1 ... #p21797977
Just completed tax return, as you said, fairly easy. Only recurring business expense would be insurance and delivery charge.
