Call me a pessimist, but every time the government tries something new, it just ends up being a big waste of money. They should just let consumers buy thermostats and send the upc code for a rebate like they do in the States.
I agree that I'd prefer to install it myself, but they're probably doing it in hopes of reducing fraud for people who already have a smart tstat and are looking to resell this.

wonder what the catch is.
If you reload the page it will let you pick the correct option. I had the same issue with contact method as well. Seems to be a result of the excessive site load.

I also just tried a 3rd time without errors or email.... hopefully I'll get the tstat... maybe I'll get 3! lol

Same here, had to pick wemo detached to move to step 2.

I don't like how you can't pick what thermostat you would want as I would only want the ecobee

I think you have to let the page load completely before you go on selecting an option. Selecting an option before the page loads will render that option as invalid and you will be forced to select some other option to move to the next page. I think this seems like a technical glitch for sure.

I have a Honeywell Wifi thermostat. as far as I know its not a "smart" thermostat, do I still qualify? I think the only benefit is I can control it from outside the house, but I don't think it can learn.

I was expecting the 100k units to be gone by the afternoon. Lasting a couple days is pretty optimistic.
