Ontario Land Transfer Tax Exemption/Rebate
If you are a first time home buyer you get an exemption exemption/rebate of the land transfer tax.
From my reading this only applies if this is your first home purchase worldwide, not just first home purchase in Canada.
My question to the forum is:
How would the government know if you have purchased a property overseas before?
What are the risk in claiming this exemption/rebate if you do have an overseas property?
