Ontario Place Cinesphere reopened. Many new/classic movies showing

http://ontarioplace.com/en/cinesphere/

$15 adult tickets for each movie

Features IMAX w/laser

Cinema Technology
IMAX with laser is more than a handful of new innovations—it’s a re-imagination of the movie theatre experience. Designed from the ground up for IMAX’s largest screens (75 feet or greater in width), the dual 4K laser projection system is equipped with a new optical engine and suite of proprietary IMAX technologies capable of projecting an image with up to a 1.43:1 aspect ratio. Coupled with an incredible new sound system, IMAX with laser will draw audiences into the action like never before.

Excellent news that Cinesphere this year has finally reopened to the public after being closed for so long. I look forward to seeing many feature films in this IMAX theatre again.

That's great news. Ontario Place has been completely off my radar for years. I had thought that it was permanently closed. Great to hear it's open again after renovations.

Ontario Place has two parking lots for public parking.

Parking is $3.25 per half hour, up to a daily max of $25.00 in peak season. A flat per-day rate of $25.00 will be applied during special events.

When will they start showing star wars? Lol
I assume it will not happen during "The Last Jedi" first run December 2017 opening. It's really unfortunate because there is a 70mm IMAX print out there. I'm guessing we'll get to see "new releases" probably around 2 to 3 months later. Probably February or March 2018 to see "Star Wars" at the Cinesphere. Although, I definitely hope I'm wrong and it's sooner. LOL

This link says the 70mm will only play in a handful of theatres, all in the US except for one in London, UK.

FWIW, all of those special 70mm showings appear to be at non-standard IMAX theatres. They appear to all be at museums.
It's unfortunate because the Cinesphere definitely fits in the above category type of museum theatre. Bummer!

They're here to stay, if they bought those 4k projectors. That's good.

gosh I hope not. Free/subsided parking is terrible for cities. Increases congestion and pollution.

Exhibition GO/TTC streetcar is a short walk from Ontario Place. Nobody should be exhausted by that.

Audra Brown mentions free park space, not free parking.
