Ontario student opportunity grant (OSOG)?

Hi guys,

Anyone know how the OSOG works? I have my final osap balance and it's nearly $35,000 for four years of study. I took $1000 of osap for one summer course, but the remaining $34,000 is for the regular four year, fall/winter university schedule.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't the OSOG supposed to limit your total repayable debt per year to ~$7500? Extrapolating that logic, my total debt should be close to $30,000 ($7500 x 4 years) plus the $1000 I borrowed for a summer course.

I convocated in June this year and am trying to figure out if OSOG is yet to apply, or if I'm just mistaken on how this works.

You get the OSOG when you do your taxes, I got mine almost immediately after my taxes were done for thate year.

So I have to wait until Spring of next year?
Yes, you have to get your tax of the current year filed first before OSOG can be determined.

Also if my memory serves me right, $7500 limit is for the year you only study for 2 terms. If you study for all 3 terms (e.g. including spring/summer), the dept limit is like $11,000 for that year.
