Electronic Box is offering FTTN install at $25 instead of $50 (DSL 6 not included), for both Ontario and Quebec customers. Also, for existing CABLE users, they are adding free transfer offer on cable internet for both Ontario and Quebec customers. Transfer CABLE internet services from Rogers cable, Teksavvy cable, Vmedia cable, Acanac cable, Start cable, etc. and they will waive the activation fee of $49.95 on any of their cable plans.
Some conditions apply, please see here: http://www.electronicbox.net/en/promoti ... tallation/ or here: http://www.electronicbox.net/en/promoti ... on-quebec/

I've been a Rogers internet user for as long as I can remember. After countless circles of going through loyalty, winback and retentions, I finally quit and joined a smaller ISP. At first, the thought of leaving Rogers was scary. But after a week... Wow, the feeling of leaving a huge (expensive) utility felt very liberating. Like many RFDers, I did my research among various smaller ISPs and have decided to give Electronic Box a chance. Even though they are not huge or well known in Ontario, they are one of the oldest, most established independent ISPs from Quebec.
So come join and help us all get back at Rogers by joining Ebox!

WHO CAN JOIN?
Anyone from Ontario or Quebec (Je parle un peu francais) can join. You have a choice between Cable or DSL.
Please note: Ontarians who want cable must reside in the Rogers service area. COGECO service area starts Nov 1, 2015. Details here: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r303779 ... v-1st-2015
Please check service availability with your postal code here: http://www.electronicbox.net/en/internet-packages-2/
If you want Ontario Cable, please use Rogers service availability page to check your postal code here: http://www.rogers.com/consumer/internet

WHY JOIN A GROUP?
Group of 2-3 gets $1 monthly rebate
Group of 4+ gets $2 monthly rebate

WHAT SERVICES DO THEY OFFER?
Please check here: http://www.electronicbox.net/en/internet-packages-2/

THAT'S A GOOD DEAL, ANY WAY YOU CAN MAKE IT BETTER?
Unlimited usage is offered with regular/super Off-Peak (DSL free/Cable +$4.95, unlimited upload) with unlimited usage between 2h and 14h.
NEW: This will be offered to Ontarians starting Nov 2015
Please see here: http://www.electronicbox.net/en/super-off-peak/

WHEN WILL A GROUP BUY OCCUR?
When I get enough people (at least 4), ASAP!

I HAVE MORE QUESTIONS
Please post in this thread. Someone else might have the same question.

HOW CAN I JOIN?

So if we sign up for this an are from QC what do we get?

30/10 with 150 up/down limit plus $5 for Super off peak...

Does that still come in at 27.95 + 4.95 for 6 months?

Sadly, that is an Ontario only price. QC people have a different pricing structure. 30/10 150GB is $48.95 with group discount in la belle province. Super off peak is another $4.95, but we don't get that in Ontario.

I usually average 600GB per month, so I will stick with Acanac for now. Thank you for the info ;-)

I currently have 35/3 with Rogers. Will 30/5 result in much of a difference in download speeds?

Yes, 5Mbps! :)

In all seriousness,I wouldn't know much difference since I'm not into torrents or filesharing. If you are, I'd definitely take it into consideration.

If I'm transferring from TekSavvy, what fees would apply? Could I use my existing modem with E Box? Also, if I later switched to the 60 plan, would the $2 rebate still apply?
If you're an existing TekSavvy cable customer and intended to use the same modem, you pay only $20 to activate that modem with ebox. Just a reminder, using the same modem requires "de/re-provisioning" and you may be without internet for 24-74 hours.

Just to make sure, check if your modem is here:
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r289620 ... ntario-FAQ

$2 rebate still applies after changing plans. It stays with you as long as you're with ebox.
