my experience with ebox is not quite satisfactory: i've been with them for 6 months now using the 30/5 cable package. their speed is slightly slower than roger's packages with similar advertised speeds. not a lot of differences, but it's noticeable in day to day usage. the up speed consistently maxed out at 4, instead of the advertised 5. when i was with rogers, i consistently get very close to the advertised speeds for both up and down. when i talked to ebox's support, they just said you get what you get. when i asked how come i could get higher up speed with rogers, which shows it's not a network infrastructure limitation, they just said again you get what you get.

another thing is ebox's ping time (50-100) is consistently worse than roger's (10-50). this is also noticeable in regular web surfing. every click i make, there's a built-in delay. patience is required.

Have you tried the speedtest using their server?
http://www.ebox.ca/en/tools/ or http://longueuil.speedtest.net/
i compared rogers vs ebox using the same third party test: https://sourceforge.net/speedtest

i just tried using ebox's own test as you suggested. ping time was better but up speed remains at 4 instead of 5. note that when i was with rogers i didn't use roger's own test either. i use the same third party test to compare both rogers and ebox.

I was lucky to be the fourth to join a group at the end of February. Within 48 hours of sending initial email, my account was all set up with Ebox with a date scheduled for the transfer. OP even contacted Ebox to make sure the group discount was applied.

Got $2 off on monthly bill and $10 off the purchase of their modem.

Thank you!

Interested in signing up, but I currently own a modem with VMedia Cable service under Ontaro C-Service - Hitron CDA-RES firmware 4.2.1.7NA-T1. I don't want to purchase another new modem. However, it appears that the firmware on my modem is older whereas the last digit is showing a 7 and the ebox website is showing that it is newer - a 17.

http://www.ebox.ca/en/compatible-modems/

I need 100% accurate answer that the switch will be seamless and no surprises that my current modem will work w ebox from VMedia

Unfortunately, from what I know, the modem requirements are pretty strict and are set by C-cable. You can contact Ebox yourself via sales@electronicbox.net and ask, but I think the answer will be you need a new modem.

On the bright side, the transfer of Internet using a new modem will be more seamless than reusing an existing modem. There is usually a delay in service in the latter due to re-provisioning the existing modem.
