Opinion on Lenovo Y410P?

Hi,

I was thinking of getting the Lenovo Y410P for editing/recording videos and mild gaming. I know someone selling it for 650. Is it a good deal? It was bought in Nov 2013.

24GB SSD/1TB and 8GB RAM model.

Thanks,

Wilson

i5 or i7?

You can get a new one for not much more than that from the Lenovo EPP site.

(Purchased an i5 one for $700 a few months ago, i7 was only $100 more.)

i7 with other specifications mentioned. It's 800 + tax and shipping right? I just don't want to spend too much money.

Free shipping, but yeah it ends up being a difference of $250. If it's in good condition and you know the person well then I'd say go ahead (or try and get it for $600). Be aware the laptop likely has an Intel 2200 or 2230 WiFi card which is quite abysmal, but is otherwise a good laptop.

Anyway to mitigate the crappy wifi? Buy a 3rd party wifi adaptor? Aside from the gaming, I upload videos quite often, but otherwise not a big problem.

It's a friend of a friend, I don't know the person personally. Anything particular I should check for outside of physical wear and tear and system info?

I got the Y510P about 2 months ago and love it. I got the I7 with GT750M and it plays Bioshock on 1080p at ultra very well, loving it.
I think it has the 2200 wifi card on it, so far I think I have gotten some dropping problems only about 2-3 times, and the download speed is fine. So personally for me, the wifi card wasnt a problem.

A friend has a 510 as well and he is happy with it, said the 410 would be fine for 650.
