What are some of your opinions on a 2001 S60 Volvo T5?
Any experience with them? Repairs, gas mileage, reliability - that kinda thing...
We're thinking of a new(er) car, and my wife and I have been intrigued with Volvos, but I don't know anyone who owns one, so I'm trying to gather opinions, and I came accross a rather well priced one...
Any opinions?

Is consumer report data available online, or do I have to buy the book?

he's looking at the 2001. Go to www.carpoint.com check out the reviews of that year and the year to year changes. Might also have reliability reports there too.

thanks for all the responses guys...
The problem I find with 'new' reviews is that its a very artificial look into the car - I'm more interested in reliability and durability - I never buy brand new, so I like to see a bit of history on the car.

I had a 1984 volvo GL. It was a tank. I even got into an accident and it barely had any damage. Since it was sooo old, there was a lot of rust and when i hit the curb it broke off the wheel. otherwise i coudl still be driving it.
the older ones at least are very reliable. I would feel safe buying another volvo, if i had that kind of money!_______________

volvos are tanks...my dad only buys volvo's..
my mom used to have a Volvo 940 Turbo but got into a car accident - rear ended a taxi..
the taxi's bumper was damaged pretty badly...the bumper pretty much fell off..
the volvo...not a scratch.._______________

I wouldn't trust any consumer reports for various reasons.
Find a Volvo forum and post your questions there.
Unless anybody here actually owns the Volvo model/year you're looking at, I would take the comments with a grain of salt.
I don't know about the volvo, but if you want a good used luxury car, buy a 1997-2002 benz E320.Last edited by cil254; Mar 3rd, 2005 at 10:34 PM.

Mar 4th, 2005 12:01 AM #14Yup, and GM had the same effect on Saab. Inside of the new 9-5 looks like a Grand Am. Oops, sorry I believe its called the G6 now.

Excellent volvo forum if you want to post an inquiry there. I'm not gonna give my opinion because I've pretty much been brought up with volvos in my blood..._______________
