OS 3.0 (iPhone/iPod)
Has anyone else encountered slow downs or sluggish performance? My particular problem is syncing or reading stuff off the device via USB from the computer. iTunes seems to stall sometimes (not always) reading files on my phone but while untethered, everything is responsive. I'm thinking it's probably isolated to my storage being too scrambled and probably needs a factory reset. It's an 8GB 3G.

mine also feels slower in a game that i play. noticeable.
i am thinking it is because of an upgrade and a full clean install would fix the problem.

I have noticed the same thing. Not a giant slow down, but noticeably slower accessing various apps on the phone. Still works just fine though.

My ipod touch 1g is running a bit slower while running OS 3.0. I guess the 400mhz processor (the slowest of all the devices) is slowly going obsolete.

that happened to me- when I tired to install the firmware from Shift-clicking the Restore button.
It wouldn't launch my facebook apps and stuff like that, they would just crash. All I did was restore again (with the new 3.0 software installed) so that Apple gave me a brand new version, incase my ipsw was buggy.
The features taht 3.0 brings though - like landscape mode keyboard, and copy and paste - make it worth it.
plus its already been jailbroken....

Jailbreaking a 2.x device slowed it down for me.
Upgrading my Touch 2G to 3.0 slowed it down for me.
Jailbreaking and doing 3.0 on my 3GS is awesome though... darn thing has so much oomph.
