Overweight sibling... should I avoid the weight topic?

No, we r not close. And, I did wonder if they somehow read this RFD thread or something, but I doubt they r on RFD because they don't have time to look for deals or use coupons.

I have an overweight older sibling. They seem to think doing yoga is enough exercise. I don't think they will lose weight any time soon. Now, the aches and pains are creeping in, but they r thankful they r not diabetic or have to take meds for high blood pressure. None OP I wonder. Which I worse. Your sibling being 40lbs overweight. Or you picking up a joint you found laying on the sidewalk.
