Longitude found a camera at JFK, saw 2 women posing on the pictures. Posted pictures on RFD in hopes either of the women will find it or someone would recognize them. Someone recognized them, I think Mr.Perfect and one of em came in here and identified her real name to which longitude then proceeded to search facebook in which he found them. Compared the pictures to facebook it was a match. Longitude proceeds to send an email to make sure that they were them and were able to verify the contents of the camera. Once verified he updated his thread saying he has found them... that's it so far. Dunno what's gonna happen from here.
Hmm prob still too long for RFD attention span ok here a shorter cole's notes:
OP found lost cam, people on cam finds OP cause of RFD, OP hooks up.

Please dont rain down on the guys parade, he deserves the respect, if you dont have anything nice to say then why say at all? It is very easy to judge what could have and what couldnt have been done. For all we know the camera would be rotting around for years at JfK just like all the other lost and found items. What he has achieved here is astonishing and he did it because his intentions were true with a good heart.
Mad props to you dude! Much respect +

Now all we need is OP and the picture of the two italians and post that on RFD to verify authenticity. Please take picture using another camera and make sure you show the lost camera being exchanged. Update OP with that and you got TOTY. (Thread of the Year)

Hi guys! I'm the friend of one of the two girls in the pics. First of all, thank you very much! When she came back home she called me saying "I lost your camera!!! I think someone stole it!!! I'm so sorry
I had all the photos of New York inside!!!"... Well, she was desperate. Then, in a sleepless night, she was looking at the site of the JFK and she found a post of a guy saying that someone in this forum was searching two italian girls. She went to the link and saw her photos.
Just so you know, she text me at 4 a.m. I wrote to Longitude because she can't write in English and because the camera is mine
So thank you very much again
YOU'VE BEEN AMAZING!
Greetings from Italy

I am highly impressed with your determination to find the owner. Very few would have done even half of what you did.

Probably but they do keep it for a certain number of days. If I lost a camera at the airport, the first thing I would have done is check the airport security lost and found and provide all my personal information just in case someone decides to return it later. And then maybe check craigslist or Kijiji. It was very fortunate things turned out the way they have here.

The question that remains to be asked is, how did mrperfect find the match? Was he given more pictures from the camera to find a match online via image scan? Did he repost the pictures on multiple threads and got an answer? Or did he knew a friend of a friend who knew them?
It's not that it's even important because the founder was initially contacted but I really am intrigued to know how he managed to find her. Unless the owner actually did a google search and found this but that would exclude mrperfect alltogether although he did give longitute a 65% certainty. Hmmm Let me know
