Paid tax on purchases in the states, then more at the border. Any way to get it back?
I paid for some clothing in the states (Buffalo) and got taxed at the register. In addition to that, I also got taxed when I declared the merchandise at the border.
Is there any way to get some of this back?
**I'm not looking for "you shouldnt have declared it in the first place".. morals and ethics, ppl.. :P
Thanks for your help all!

I'm glad you declared it. Its not worth the risk of getting caught (tax evasion), to save a few bucks.

Short answer... no. NY State does not refund taxes to out of state or country residents. The taxes you paid at the border are payable when importing goods, which you did. If the double tax made your purchase any less of a deal than you need to re-think what you are purchasing and importing.
