PAL DVD Player help
Hey guys,
I was gonna buy a new dvd player, and I was just gonna get one that plays EVERYTHING except PAL(ie, Divx, MPEG, etc so I can just throw some .mpegs on there and watch them on the TV).
And then I was just gonna take my PAL dvds, rip them, convert to NTSC, and burn and play, but that seems like a PITA.
So bascially now I want to pick up a DVD player that will play NTSC, PAL, ALL formats (ie, DVD-/+R(W), mp3, mpeg, divx, with progressive scan, etc). EVErything.
Does anyone know the cheapest (but decent) player than can do all of the above? And where to buy? thanks a lot.

Most of the "off brands" will play PAL. Walmart, FS has em etc...
My Malata, Apex plays PAL no problems._______________

My Philips DVP642 (I hope I got that right) plays PAL, NTSC, DIVX, etc.
You choose the signal output in the on-screen menu: Auto, PAL or NTSC...

Wow that's really good but strange.
Why doesn't it even say in the features that it plays PAL? It doesnt mention it anywhere on teh best buy site...Isn't it a major selling point? I Mean multisystem VHS players cost a LOT more..
Thanks everyone.

Sometimes it's just assumed that the cheaper brands will play all regions and the name brands don't advertise the feature so they can avoid paying Macrovision duties.
