2 wks if you submit it at the passport office as of two weeks ago (Atleast the sheppard/yonge location, picked mine up today)
you can get express service for 30 extra (5working days) or for 80 extra you can get urgent and its only 1 day for that.
but you need some form of proof for the express or urgent one (paid ticket, business letter etc...)

NEW QUESTION:
Does anyone know if there is a way to do it urgent? or a temporary passport? mine expired like 3 years ago so i hear it's different then a renewal, if anyone has any info that would be great, I want to go away and need any advice i can get as to speed up the process, what about the online appliaction does that make it faster?Last edited by Hataylor; Feb 26th, 2007 at 04:45 PM.

2 Weeks sounds really short... according to this it's taking up to 2 months (due to new rules in the US and the upcoming spring breaks)

i dont think you understand.
if you do it via postal method, there is a 20-25day delay; nobody ever said it was the post office's fault. if you do it in person, it takes two weeks.
and what lineups? i was in and out in 10min when submitting my application two weeks ago at yonge/sheppard

Well that sucks.
So people who either work to pay taxes in this country or those with desency who decide not to burden local passport offices with insane lines and send their application by mail are getting the shaft.
what kind of BS is that.
I sent mine in December (express with tracking number and required signature) and they someone named GAUTHIER recieved it on December 18. I havent heard anything about it except last week (Feb 6) my CC was charged the 87$.
Also, dont try calling their number 1-800-567-6868 - is bogus.
I got up at 5.30 am MST (7.30 EST is when they open) to try to call on status and I called at 5.29 and got the message saying it was closed. I hung up and immediately called again and go the message "all agents are busy and the on hold line is full"
I have been spamming that number every 20 minutes fairly frequently and still nothing.

I just went by the passport office in Gatineau (Place du centre) there were less than 15 people in line.
Hope it helps

I applied at Yonge/Sheppard earlier this week. I was there for about 3 hours start to finish (I had not filled out the application online). They said they passport will be mailed out in 4 weeks. However, they said if I had mailed in the application, it would take 8 weeks.

over 2 months!
I sent mine in November, and only got it back January 26th! Make sure you put a "travel date" that is relatively soon or they will put it to the bottom of the stack!
And the phone # is bogus, try their email. Email a complaint and they will let you know whats up in a few days usually.
