Are these down jackets from Patagonia buy it for life-ish?

All my major Patagonia pieces have lasted 10-15? years so far. My down vest is remarkably poofy and hardly packed ‘down’ Winking Face at all even with heavy usage in fall/winter.

I bought the above jacket as a gift to a friend in the military - he loves it and wears it in the field as they often have to supplement their issue equipment.

I’m likely to pull the trigger today on one for myself....

it's hard to tell how how warm this is. is this something you wear about 5 degress outside? Looks pretty thin
RFD is not just about saving money, it's about the thrill of the hunt and not paying full price like Joe Shmoe did. This applies to everyday items as well as high end items that I don't really need.

These do not last more than 3/4 years if you are at all active
They use to, but their quality of this particular product has gone down hill
My first one lasted 7/8 years but my last 2 barely made it to year 3. They rip easily. I mean really easily. You can have them fixed which is why I love Patagonia but that takes a few weeks to a month each time. I would not buy this product again for exactly this reason.
I love almost all their other products, just not this one

How do they fit? I normally wear medium, and is this like the equivalent of Nuptse from TNF?

It's 800 fill goose down, should be warm enough at that temperature, although the jacket is really meant to be a mid-layer.

Thanks OP. Mec PM the micro-green color. If it doesn't fit well, I can return to the store.
