paypal protection trumps sellers return policy

seller puts in all these conditions that you have to do to get your money back.
the seller is controlling the situation unless you know it's all baloney.
don't go through ebay, papypal only in my opinion.
file a dispute, send the seller an email or two you're not happy with the product,it's not working.there's i believe a 35 day time limit to file a dispute.doesn't even matter if you gave them a positive.
stopped working after a few days, wasn't working properly etc.
seller may or may not respond.what matters to paypal is that you made contact.

whatever you do do not mention that you've tried to fix/repair the item
yourself,paypal will rule against you.

upgrade your dispute to a claim within 2 days after you've filed the dispute.
you will never hear back from paypal other than on the paypal claim page.check it daily for updates.
when you get the ok to return to sender.ship back at your cost with tracking.check your tracking number and once delivered call paypal, ask the first person that answers to transfer you to a paypal claims specialist.once you have the paypal claims specialist, give them you claim info and ask them to transfer the funds owing you back into your paypal account.done in 5 minutes.
none of this jumping hoops and denials by seller.paypal rules trump the seller.

Thanks for this OP. I had to resort to this dispute process and your post is 100% correct.

PP was great over the phone and I have little to do for now. In 2 days I will upgrade. that said PP has already promised sept 14 as the date I will be refunded. that is it. my story taken at face value. And they go to bat for you.

Cheers.

paypal have just been greatg to deal with in general - my paypal account got frauded to the tune of $400 from my chequing and visa combined and they were helpful and understanding and got everything sorted - took a few days but they really looked after me. That goes a long way towards loyalty.

It is a great policy but it is also easily abused. I have read many stories of sellers getting back returns of just boxes filled with rocks to meet the weight requirements of the package. Then it's their word against the buyers.
