Paytm: Pay property tax with credit card!

Just found this ios/android app called "Paytm Canada", apparently you can pay any bills through the app. The nice thing is you can link your credit card, so you will get cashback/points which are not common when paying certain types of bills.

I was suspicious at first, but I just managed to pay my property tax bill successfully.

Paytm seems like a legit company, with big footprint originating from India.

Seems like patym has launched its services in Canada and currently they are waiving transaction fees to pay .
Not availabe in QC. Rest of canada Seems OK
tried to pay City taxes and hydro bill using my credit card and it seems to work. should get a nice cashback from my Rogers mastercard :D

the cashback earned is using your CC not PAYTM.
edit: checked my pending transactions on CC, show up "Type: Mail/Phone Order" so should be good and not cash advance.

Edit : investing accounts not available anymore.

Canadian Tire bill pay 2.0 it seems.

More like Plastiq's competition, not Canadian Tire 2.0.
Paytm is being charged credit card fees, not the payees.
They are probably eating all the fees right now just to get people in.

Fee appears to be a flat $0.50 in the terms? I wonder if it will change to a percent rate post launch.

i agree.
i did 2 payments and one less than 100 and one more than 1000 and both cases the fee was 50 cents, which was rebated. so if this is the case, will make sense to use this even once the fee rebate is gone

Sorry but the deal here is they're waiving the transaction fee (for launch)? The cash back OP is mentioning is from his CC?

yes,
the cashback is from CC. traditionally for city taxes, utilties, you cannot pay with CC without fees ( 1-2%), but this allows to pay using CC and earn cashback on CC

Pay your bill using your CC, for free. The deal is they waive the $0.50 fee and you gain your CC benefits.

I can't imagine the payee's swallowing the fee's that credit card companies charge.

Must be a hitch somewhere.

That is yet to be seen. I believe it was launched today, and they seem to have flat trx fees. more details will come soon.
