I paid via AMEX yesterday (2% fee) and got 2% cashback (before the news/email came out today)
so it's a wash for AMEX, but still good to meet AMEX minimum spendings
But the max cashback is $20 - so effectively its a wash with Amex payment up to $1000.

The sweet spot currently is with MC - with my C1 Aspire I got 2% rebate and PayTm gives you another 2% and no fee.

What they want us to do is to pay with cash instead of CC similar to the PayTM India.
I have moved to paying with Paytm cash so that I get my gift cards instantly. The bill payments are done quickly too. I guess cause they already have my funds and don't have to go get it from the bank.

My recent CoV property tax pmts showed up right away.
There is a note at CoV website about a delay in posting pmts:
** NOTICE REGARDING PROPERTY TAX AND UTILITY INQUIRIES **
Property Tax data will be unavailable for one to two business days starting at 5:00 PM PST January 10, 2018 while we complete the year end process.

Please make note that due to the holiday closure and year end process, tax and utility accounts from December 23 through mid-January 2018 may not show all payments and adjustments. Any payments received during the closure may not appear on this site until the New Year.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

I made a pmt in late Dec and it actually showed up at CoV website as paid a week earlier.
I paid Jan 2 for 1500, still waiting balance update at CoV website
5/11/18: profit YTD -3.50%😥

Can you get the 2% paying a CC bill from Paytm cash?
Can someone please explain how the 2% cash back works? How do you earn it, what kind of bills can you pay and what are the payment methods that allow you to earn the cashback? Also, is it real cash or credits toward gift cards. Thx.

Looking for confirmation/advice.

I've previously used credit card payment to pay bills but I'm going to switch to PayTM cash so I don't get dinged with the cash advance fees with Visa. If I understand correctly;
1. Scanning through this thread and PayTM's blog/FAQ, my first $500 payment will not get me anything. Can someone confirm this? (Side question, how frequently are there promo codes in order to get something for this first payment?)
2. After that, I'll be a VIP user and then will earn cashback as long as I pay $500 towards bills each month?

You get the cash back in your Paytm account as "paytm cash". its as good as cash cause you can pay any bill with it.

I paid my home insurance through Amex, and it did not charge me fees....not sure why it happened. I first did not see BCAA - insurance as biller, I sent them an email, and they just added in within one hour.

BCAA always takes Amex. Why do you need to pay through Paytm?
😎 "How do you like to pay?" "American Express!" 😄

Glad I checked this thread, I didn't receive the 2% email and may not have made the payments in time. Thanks RFD!
