Isn't EQ 3%?
Why would you move it to PCF at 2.5%?

Upon loggin in to PCF today, this offer page came up ...

"Great news. You’re already enrolled and are currently enjoying a 2%∗ interest on new deposits into your President’s Choice Financial® Interest PlusTM savings account until August 31. As an added benefit, you can earn 2.5%∗ interest on these deposits plus any new deposits from September 1 until October 31, 2017."

I have nothing in my PCF Interest Plus savings account now. Guess, I'll move my EQ Bank funds over to PCF Interest Plus savings account on September 1 and keep it there for a few months.

Anyone confirmed money deposited since May1 is eligible for this extension? One person called did not get this assurance it seems.

This should be extension for any money deposited since May1, but who knows.

As barcathegreat has said, ING = Tangerine = Scotia Bank. As for cheques being free, yes, that is the case now but the question is for how long? That's why I was looking at a preemptive move. If there isn't anything else that's truly comparable then we're trapped by the big banks again.
Without free cheques, why would people stay with PCF/Simplii?

Anyone with money with PCF should just withdraw by Oct31 as Simplii takes over. A good size deposit drop may get them to introduce a high teaser rate as a "new" entity.

That's when their current 2.5% promo rate expires so I already have this planned. Now, if they extend it further to Dec.31, I'll let it be.

Even if it was a current promo, Considering Tangerine lottery , Eq, and the two rate increases, I see 2.5% is the minimum! They should give us a good promo in November!

Its a targeted offer and if you had a history of withdrawing and redeposit, you are NOT targeted.
In other words, these promotions on "NEW DEPOSITS" are totally useless.
With Bank of Canada raises rate to 1%, offering 2.25% and on new deposits only and has to be targeted is promoting a non-promotion....
