Do you think the Conservatives should vote down the government (with now-independant Pat O'Brien voting with them, they have a good chance of succeeding if they try..) on a confidence motion (ie. the budget) in order to stop the passage of the Civil Marriage Act?

Indeed. But I don't see why you can't continue to discuss it, especially in the context of a Vote of Non-Confidence. Will this vote be used to bring down the government? Does the liberal government have enough support from the ND's to pass this controversial bill?

you are splitting the vote of "NO" to vote down the gov't AND those who support same sex marriage.

It's the same voter; but you force them to vote in 2 spots who actually support one concept...

who would vote against knocking the gov't down over this issue and NOT support gay marriage???

I'm not sure if you did this on purpose or more likely a newbie mistake.

So now you have 4 and 3 votes which basically support gay marriage but divided into 2 categories...yet you only have on category for those against gay marriage...

change your poll to

1)YES
2) NO
3) DO NOT CARE

or

1)YES
2) NO
3) I support gay marriage
4) I am against gay marriage
5) I do not care

If you do not; you are totally skewing the results due to faulty poll design.

The Bloc support it too, it's a no brainer for the NDP. As it is the only party that officially doesn't support it is the RACT. (from what I've read)

The intent was, for people who oppose same sex marriage to choose either the "yes" or "no". Obviously, the people who support same sex marriage wouldn't want the government to fall to delay the Civil Marriage Act.

I guess it wasn't as clear as it could be.. but I was limited in the length of the poll question..
