I keep personal stuff in the office to a minimum, a box of kleenex, tea bags and cookies.

The only personal item is myself and my water bottle and mug there.

I've been in my current job for only six months, and I haven't had time to decorate. Thought about bringing in my degrees and professional designations, but that always seemed pretenious to me. I have some painting at home that I may bring in. The only thing I have in my office right now is a big happy face that I drew on my whiteboard. Otherwise, my office is pretty drab.

I am not a fan of putting degrees up in offices. I haven't even taken mine out of the envelope it came in except on the odd occassion to photocopy it.
At current work, I am not even allow to change wallpaper on my computer screen so I don't know how they take it when I bring in personal stuff.
I heard from my brother's in-law's sister in-law that they aren't allow to put up family photos. I find that way too strict.

All I ever keep is a plant, a box of kleenex, my family picture, a calendar I made and a lot of Dilbert cartoons. Too much risk of "borrowing" for me to keep anything of value there.
The lady across the hall from me has an office that looks like a bag lady moved in. Piles and piles of periodicals, newpapers, extra clothes and assorted junk. They have to move her row of offices six inches and it took her 2 days to pack everything in boxes and then 2 days to unpack and replace everything.
