I reported the same thread now twice and commented in the thread once yet it still hasn't been removed, locked or moved to Off Topic, even though others agreed with me. It's the thread with the animal abuse. Just because it happened to a dog it doesn't mean it belongs in the pet forum. There is no mention in that article that the dog was ever a pet.
I didn't ask the thread about the dogs being locked in cars to be locked because that is relevant to pets. Animal abuse isn't. Why not move the Japanese killing dolphins thread to the pet forum then? Or the Batman theatre shooting to the entertainment forum?
Sure the pet forum isn't popular, but come on. Checking up on it once in a while is not too much to ask.

joeyjoejoejoeyjr think you're over reacting a little here? The article was posted to make a point: there are better ways to deal with unwanted pets than to dump them in the lake like these people did. Believe it or not there are people who are 50-100 years behind the times and think this behaviour is acceptable when it isn't (believe it or not, these acts used to be common-place). Also your analogy to plane crashes and things involving children...I think those articles should be posted too. Not for some sick pleasure or to give out graphic details like a degenerate, but if there are lessons that can be learned for parents or to warn travellers of dangerous airlines, why shouldn't that information be allowed to be viewed by the public?
Sorry that life isn't as simple as "I bought my dog and lived happily ever after"...life ain't that easy unfortunately. Hiding your head in the sand and ignoring the stories isn't going to change anything either, except possibly for the worse.
Also, locking an animal in a sweltering car is also animal abuse, so you don't really have any valid points here other than YOU personally approve of one kind of article and not of another. And I'm not sure what country allows you to have dolphins as pets...not in Canada though.Last edited by JK400; Jul 25th, 2012 at 12:59 PM.

You completely missed the point. That article is about a dog killed in a river, not a pet. No where in the quoted article does it even mention that it's was a pet. And I said locking dogs in cars is a valid thread because they are locking their pets in cars. This isn't the dog forum or an animal forum, it's the pet forum. I'm not picking and choosing what is too graphic for the forum... Just what is on topic for that forum. All else goes to Off Topic.
It's like the dog act last night on America's Got Talent. That was quite a great act, but because it involved dogs, does it belong in the Pet forum. It should be in the entertainment forum.
Previous threads like that in the Pet forum, I have reported and asked to move to Off Topic. Many times the mods just locked or removed the thread (and acted rather promptly too). My comment was more towards the complete lack of mods acting on this.

Alright so now the arugment is it isn't a pet...dogs in that area are generally domesticated animals and have owners, they generally arent' strays hunting in packs like wolves in that area. There are stories like this all the time of owners disposing of their pets in this manner...it's highly probable that this dog was a domesticated animal and under the ownership of someone, and not a random dog wandering the streets. Not sure why you err on the side of the improbable, but whatever, I understand where you're coming from, even if I and the OP disagree with you.

I never changed my point from my post to this thread to the 2 times I flagged the thread in question.
I'm going by the facts in the story whether the dog had an owner is irrelevant. The only reason why this thread is in the Pet forum is because it's about a dog. If it happened to a horse it would be in Off Topic.

I don't really understand what your problem is, OP. It seems semantic at best.

I noticed the thread has been deleted (wouldn't be surprised if the OP is now permanently banned either). Oh well, must be nice living in la-la land where nothing bad ever happens to anyone or anything ever...you're doing yourself an injustice though as a full grown adult ignoring the adversities that life has to offer...you aren't in kindergarten anymore folks.

Yes ishfish but I would have them promoted from junior to senior kindergarten in that case.

So they get real scissors and the fruit scented markers!
I made my comment because another poster had once remarked that one user had a tendency to frequently post animal abuse stories in the pet forum. I do not recall which user was doing this. But it was repetitive and in the style of a newsbot post.

Oh, okay. From what I can tell this wasn't like that...I'd been checking up on the forum on and off for a month or so following a thread I made and didn't notice anything like that. That's a totally different story if someone is repeatedly posting abuse stories for amusement...the OP of this article seemed concerned for the welfare of dogs and wanted to alert people.
