Petro-Canada Mobility Internet Browsing
I notice that Petro-Canada mobility now has unlimited internet browsing for $10 a month, or pay by usage at $0.04 per Kb. That's great, however I'm not using my original PC phone - I purchased a SE W810i and put my PC sim in that phone.
Does anyone know what settings I need to use in order to access the internet using my phone?
Thanks!

Service Name (or Service): RW WAP
Connection Type (or Connection): GPRS
Username: wapuser1
Password: (don't use one, leave blank)
APN: goam.com
The proxy address is: 172.25.0.107
ad :80 at the end of the above address ie-( 172.25.0.107:80)
unless there is an option to enter a "port number", in that case you enter 80 in the required field.
Set the web browser's homepage to: http://wap:8582/start.wml
Try that and let me know.

1. Download the Apple iPhone Configuration utility from the Apple site (do a Google search for it). This tool will allow you to change the GPRS settings on your iPhone.
2. Install the iPhone Configuration utility - duh.
3. Run the iPhone Configuration utility.
4. Click Configuration Profiles and then click the New button in the tool bar. While you're under the General option, type in the following information:
Name: Petro Canada Mobility
Identifier: com.petrocanadamobility.wireless
(You don't need to change anything else)
5. Click Advanced and type in the following information:
APN: goam.com
Access Point User Name: wapuser1
Access Point Password: wap
Proxy Server: 172.25.0.107
and Port: 80
6. Upload the profile to your iPhone and accept the changes.
7. That's it - simple!

I'm using the equivalent settings on 7/11 Speakout, with a 2G iPhone. Internet works, most apps work (maps works, push mail works, facebook works with limited functionality, weather works, stocks work, youtube works with very limited functionality, Skype works but it doesn't let you make calls unless you are on wifi, that's a function of skype though, you can use skype for chat). It's not bad for $10 a month.
As long as your phone is Rogers, you don't even need to unlock it.
Note - This does not work with a 3G iPhone. It only works with a 2G or 3GS iPhone. You can read up on the 7/11 Speakout forum.

This looks great. Got steps 1 to 5 without a problem. I can't figure out how to upload the new profile to the phone. The program see the phone but does not sync with it like itunes.

Just be warned that:
·
·
$0.04/KB = $42,000/GB
