Petro Points

Hi everyone,

Any Petro Points collectors on the forums?

I'm just wondering how many points you have? How do you plan on spending them?

And has anyone cashed in on the itravel200 gift cards??? How was that experience?

Thanks,

JZ

If you dig back into the forums (hot deals and shopping discussions), you will see the Petro Points discussions. I believe some people posted that they had hundreds of thousands of points. I think I recalled 400,000+. I was at 120,000 earlier, but then Petro Canada had their discount on redemption of fuel savings card...so I loaded up.

But bang for the buck, is their car wash. Mind you, it's bang for the buck only if you use their car wash to begin with. I just go to those coin wash places and for a few bucks, I wash my car myself. It's an old car, so I don't really care about the scratches that may happen.

There's currently a discount on their Fuel Savings card.

I use my points exclusively for car washes. For that I find Esso is the best, usually you can't get enough points for a wash in one filling.

I have about 250,000. Haven't renewed them for anything. I keep meaning to do the fuel savings card but never get around to trying to get the free card first to make it a better deal.

Car washes and fuel savings are the only two that make sense. I collect and wait for a deal on FSR cards.

We use them as we go - for gift cards (when there were decent ones), car washes, fuel savings cards.

No not really. I filled up my families SUV from bone dry using Esso 93 I got around 150 points plus another 400 bonus points or something crazy like that.

For Esso's top gasoline, it's 3X the points. So 50 points + 100 bonus points.

Isn't it dollar for dollar policy points? If I fill $150 I get 150 points, plus bonus. Next time I will I'll snap the receipt so you guys can see.

I have 867k points

I think Itravel2000 is better for your points. If you redeem 10,000 Petro-Points you will receive $10 off your vacation and you could use your points for booking a hotel

Which program would be best?

Collect Petro points and exchange them for CAA dollars.
(My points are earned through buying gas, car washes, receipt surveys and online surveys).

or

Collect Air Miles and redeem 95 points instore for $10 off gas.

Calcuate the $ reward per $ spent. How you earn them is not overly important as it's per $ spent or minutes wasted taking surveys.

Wow, how much you are paying for the membership? Mine is $70/year.

I think the "10 cents off" card is the best option, especially when they are on sale.
