Is this just in the East? Because out here in Vancouver, the only one that's $199 is the Phillips PET824 8.5"

Are you sure it is 10.2" at $199, not 8.5"?

They had lots of the 8.5's. I have not seen a 10.2 at Costco.

It is a 8.5 but not a very good player.Sounds like a meat grinder starting up,has trouble with some backups and no resume feature..

Oy! Are there any good dvd/divx portable?
Seems like every one has something wrong with it...

Why would people want a 10.2 inches "portable" DVD player in the first place? It's not really that portable. Personally, I'd rather bring along a laptop with more functions.

Especially when more blu-ray players make their way onto the scene.

This reminds me of people asking why they don't worship their God or whatever. They either want it, or don't, and that's that.
Regarding the laptop reference - the cheapest laptop you can fid is for $499 off Dell - and that'd be even bigger than this. It'd also be a waste of money if someone doesn't want the extra functions.

While I certainly wouldn't need one so big, some people may have need for it.
I can just imagine if someone uses it to entertain their kids on a car trip or something... that the bigger the screen means less arguments over so-and-so hogging the screen or the other child not being able to see clearly.
My mom also, her vision is getting worse in her old age. If she wanted a portable DVD player for a trip, I'm sure that a smaller screen that she couldn't see clearly would just about cancel out the portability factor. Plsu she never travels with her laptop - it's just too heavy after putting all the needed cables and power adaptors.
