Cut cable disconnects phone service in Brampton, Ont.

BRAMPTON, Ont. — A severed cable has knocked out telephone service in the Brampton area northwest of Toronto.

The problem is affecting six exchanges in the 905 area code — 249, 495, 726, 840, 843 and 846 The outage if affecting both land lines and cellphones and some automated banking machines are also out of service.

Bell Canada says it hopes to have service fully restored by about 10 p.m. (CP24)
