Phone Plan

Looking for a phone plan for my dad. He's currently w/ Telus on a crappy plan and recently came off contract. Is there anything out there that uses the Rogers/Belus Network and is $40 or less a month with unltd. calling and 3-4GB of data? He's in Vancouver.

I second Zoomer. It's run by Cityfone, which is a 100% Rogers-owned subsidiary. Same network. I've used them for about 3 years.

The only catch is that you have to sign up for 2 years (by choosing a "free" handset with an inflated payout value) and the handsets aren't cutting edge. You can get a $50 referral credit from an existing Zoomer customer (you get $50, they get $50).

Fido data only plan $15/month for 3GB. Add Fongo VoIP app for unlimited Canada-wide calling. Prepay $10/$15 to Fongo for 6 months of unlimited Canada-wide/international SMS. Spouse and I have each had this for 9 months and couldn't be happier with it.
18% = GTA residents as a proportion of Canada's total population
97% = chance that an RFDer lives in the GTA when he posts something location specific, without giving a location

Were you hit with surprise customs/import fees on an Amazon.ca purchase?

It’s LTE but limited to 3G speeds.

I doubt he would need anything faster.
