Most phones with GPS require data usage. So you need to have either a data plan $30/6GB with Rogers or $7/unltd browsing (not sure if it works with GPS)
Keep in mind these are not full-fledged GPSes with POIs and turn-by-turn voice directions.

Phones and GPS
Hey not much of a phone junkie but i was wondering if there are any phones out there with built in gps thats actually free. I say this because my friend told me the one on the iphone costs money.
I checked out some blackberrys and the site says "GPS: Built-in Global Positioning System (GPS)" but doesn't say anything else

only the N95 comes to mind. But you need to add a third party App to get full features and maps(garminXT)
Theres ways to get it free but I can't say

i know these two phones can do gps without using data if you have garmin/tomtom installed with preloaded maps:
nokia n95 $0-$199 on 3 yr
samsung blackjackII (aka "The Jack") $50 on 3 yr
Both these phones with garmin have turn-by-turn directions (aka will say "Turn left in 100m", "Destination on the left" etc) but will not say "Turn left in 100m on main street"). I hope they add that functionality soon.

You might want to check out a few smart phones from Asus, Eten, or Miotek. They run under Windows mobile, so a bit buggy and are huge :P
