Photocopy receipts
Anyone know if stores like sears or walmart accept refunds with photocopy receipts instead of the original?

sears list on their site:
Include proof of purchase (original bill of sale)
http://www.sears.ca/gp/node/n/163972...earsBrand=core
im sure walmart assumes the same.

I think it would raise suspicion in a lot of stores if they see a photocopied receipt. They might think that you've used the original in a rebate or had purchased a photocopy of one. Still better than no receipt at all and probably a 50/50 chance that it would work.

When stores start printing receipts on non-thermal paper that doesn't fade after 4 minutes, then they can b1tch about photocopies of receipts.

Agreed. I photocopy important receipts. But if you expect them to take copies, then you should probably provide the faded out original as proof.

I did once return a PS3 to Wal-Mart with photocopy receipt (I lost the original on the photocopier I believe, forgot to take it out)
They eventually did it, but only because
- PS3 was brand new, sealed in original box, never opened (they opened it regardless to ensure inside is new)
- I returned within 30 days
- I returned to the same store I bought from (which supposedly they can pull the info from the receipt #??)

I've always suspected they did that on purpose (and also with their store credit notes), just to discourage you from trying to return merchandise thinking you don't have a valid legible receipt.
