Cienfuegos on the Southern coast in the middle of Cuba is nice. There is a dolphin show and an oppurtunity to swim with them. Price was about $200 per person to swim with them.

I would recommend Cayo Guillermo as it has a lot of small fish at the beach (feeding with bread is really fun).
Also the water is rather shallow and takes a while to get deep (similar to Wasaga) so its great for kids.

Too much poverty in Cuba. Not only that it gets tiring when people there try to suck you dry for money and then give you attitude as soon as you say your wallet is closed for business.

Really??? Been to Cuba 5 times and never found that (maybe a bit in Varadero). I always found Cubans to be very open and friendly (I like to call them the canadians of the carribean).
I found the money or nothing thing much, much more prevalent in Dominican and Mexico.
OP (and others) use debbies caribbean resort reviews to find individual resorts.
Like I said in my earlier post, I would recommend Cayo Guillermo; Melia Cayo Guillermo or Iberostar Daiquiri are very nice and the area is very quiet and great for kids and families.

What are you talking about?
I still remember when I went to Holguin with my family ... we ended up going out in the 'country' with the scooter to some museum. On the way back we just stopped to rest. Some old man was walking by with his bike and he came over and gave us some fruit that he had.
We thanked him and I tried to give him a $1usd but he didnt want it ... I had to put in his shirt pocket.
Never have I seen these Cubans that "suck you dry" 4 times that I've been there.
To OP, I would recommend Cayo Coco and Varadero for the best beaches. If you go to Varadero, you will be able to go see Havana as its only 2hrs away. Cayo Coco is an island, so not much there besides the beautiful beaches. A nice place to go to if you just want to relax. In Varadero, Blau Varadero would be my recommendation for a resort to stay at.

Havana day trip is great! Also going into the city of Varadero is a cool experience.
Try Guantanamo Bay, pretty cheap to stay there
I know a fellow who rode his bike around the island of Cuba (along the whole coast). He took a picture near Gitmo and as he was riding away a truck with 4 or so fully armed soldiers took his camera and deleted all the pictures and gave him back his camera and sent him on his way. Luckly he was not thrown in prision..lol.
