The Plan To Take Down Rogers
I've been paying around $60 for 200 daytime minutes, unlimited evenings and weekends starting at 9pm, free network calling, and 125 text messages per month.
I thought this was the standard, until I talked to my coworker who advised me to do something about it. So I crafted up a plan.
What do you guys think?
Goals:
1. Get rid of system access fee
2. Evenings starting at 7pm
3. Everything should be $25
Phase I: First Blood
1) Call customer service to negotiate a better plan.
2) Mention that:
* Fido has no system access fee by the second billing
* Evenings start at 7pm
Phase II: Call in the Calvary
1) Ask to be put through to "Customer Retention".
2) Describe the situation as per Phase I.
Phase III: Raise the Stakes
1) Ask how much it will cost to cancel the plan.
2) Because (Telus or Bell) has offered to pay the cancellation fee up to $300
*step 2 here is complete BS, but my coworker said to just say it
Phase IV: Moving Up The Ladder
1) Ask for Name and Employee #.
2) Ask to speak to their supervisor.
3) Repeat Phase I and III statements.
4) Repeat Phase IV until satisfied.
5) If all else fails, proceed to Phase V.
Phase V: The Mother of All Bombs
Begin preparations to launch an EECB:
1) Write a really good complaint letter.
2) Determine corporate email address format.
3) Compile a list of company's top executives using company website or Google Finance or Routers.
4) Combine steps 2 and 3 to create an email list.
5) Send the complaint letter from step 1.
Phase VI: "We're Going Nuclear"
For extreme circumstances:
1) Take out newspaper ads, informing the public about Rogers' bad phone plans.
2) Create a domain against Rogers.
3) Start a Twitter/Yahoo Group/Google Group/Facebook Group specifically about Rogers.
4) Proceed to wreak havoc on Rogers PR.
Phase VII: The Final Cop-out
Switch to Fido or someone else.Last edited by IBOPM; Jun 25th, 2009 at 09:25 AM.

Beep! Fail! Fido HAS system access fee.
Beep! Fail again. Go directly to retention without phase 1. Whatever phase 1 can give you, retention can give you something better. Do bother to talk to regular CSR.Phase II: Call in the Calvary
1) Ask to be put through to "Customer Retention".
2) Describe the situation as per Phase I.
Have you checked out one of the longest thread in 'Hot deal'? There are much more effective ways to get result than the rest of your 'phases' unless you mean to write something funny. Using your method, you may as well go directly to Phase VII without collecting $200 passing Go. After you really pissed one CSR, the conversation will be written in your file. It will be harder to get a deal from another CSR. By the way, Fido is owned by Rogers.Phase VII: The Final Cop-out

I wrote this more so for humour. I knew Fido is owned by Rogers, but I was told this works nonetheless. And I have no idea about Fido's policies with their system access fee thing, that was just from my coworker. In fact, all of this was my coworker's, I just typed it up and added humour.

The new fido plans have no system access fees, only the older unlisted plans IIRC.
OP, I like your formatting

If you do mean to reduce your monthly fee, check out the thread in Hot Deals.
Just for the hack of it, I paid $25.37 (everything including tax) and have:
250 minutes weekday, unlimited weekend and weeknight starts at 6pm
caller id, voice mail, call waiting.
I don't have network calling or text messaging.Last edited by gman; Jun 25th, 2009 at 09:33 AM.

definitely go straight to retentions......forget talking to the CSRs.....
Also, scan the BST: Cellphone forum for people giving away Rogers retention plans. I have found some pretty good plans and the seller has probably been with Rogers for a long while in order to accumulate credits etc and also negotiated as well.
G'Luck!

I got $17.50 for voice (200 mins, unlimited after 6, call ID, Voice Mail, that annoying Who Called feature - I never turn my BB off) 500MB data; unlimited everything else for $25. Got BB Bold for $99.
